Capital Campaign
We are well into our capital campaign to improve the facilities and grounds at our 2915 Newport Gap Pike site in Wilmington, and want to express our sincere gratitude to the several foundations, corporations, clubs and individuals who have made generous donations towards this large scale capital project - the first in the history of DAB. We have raised $1,045,590 as of June 30, 2011!

Landis Lodge
We have completed the total renovation of the Landis Lodge Building, which was built in 1930 and moved to its current location in 1957. The building was in disrepair and greatly in need of renovation after 54 years! It now houses our Sunnybrook day camp program and will be used for our adult recreational programs. The 4,000 sq. ft. facility consists of 3 large meeting rooms, office space, 3 accessible restrooms, a large outdoor porch and a fully equipped kitchen.

Sunnybrook Building
The aging Sunnybrook Building, which was acquired by DAB in 1967 from Emily Bissell Hospital, has received a much needed facelift on the (deteriorating) exterior. This has included a new roof to stop the leaking, new energy efficient windows, concrete repairs, and in September, a new coat of paint. Renovations will begin shortly on the first floor meeting room, which was the former location of our day camp and adult programs. When renovations are completed, this space will house administrative staff. The taping program will continue to operate on the second floor, but this outdated space is also in need of renovation requiring additional campaign fundraising.

Upcoming Projects
Our playground equipment is growing very old tired after all these years. It is no longer safe for our campers to play on during the summer because of the rotted wood, rust, sharp edges, and broken fixtures. It is our hope to raise additional capital funds to replace the playground equipment by June of 2012, as well as install a pathway from the Camp Building so that the children can easily access the playground and pool. This was a difficult process this past camp season as the terrain is difficult to navigate due to drainage grading, root systems and hills.
