Delaware Association For The Blind Position Announcement: Executive Director
The Board of Directors of the Delaware Association for the Blind is looking to fill the position of Executive Director. A position description, qualifications and application procedure follows.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Delaware Association for the Blind. The Executive Director is hired by the Board of Directors and reports directly to the Board. The Executive Director is responsible for the day to day operations of the Delaware Association for the Blind and carries out the policies established by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director keeps the Board of Directors informed about agency operations and also brings issues to the Board for their input and direction.
JOB DUTIES
- Serve as the liaison to the Board of Directors.
- Reports to the Board of Directors on agency programs and finances.
- Prepares the annual budget for Board approval and provides quarterly updates on income and expenses
- Prepares grant and other funding applications
- Hires staff and conducts annual performance reviews
- Oversees all programs
- Attends all Board and Committee meetings
- Represents the Delaware Association for the Blind to the general public, including public speaking engagements
- Conducts annual fundraising campaigns
- Oversees all special events
- Oversees the maintenance of all facilities and other agency property
- Maintains financial records
- Prepares for an annual audit
- Supervises department heads, groundskeeper and Administrative Assistant
- Sees that staff members have the necessary resources to perform their jobs
- Complete all required government and funder reports
- Any other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from college with a four year degree in social services, organization management or another related field.
- Three years management and supervisory experience
- Ability to speak to groups.
- Ability to use a computer for word processing and financial record keeping.
- Ability to work well with staff, Board, clients and the public
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful grant writing and fundraising experience.
- Public relations experience
- Experience in work for the blind and/or non-profit experience
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- This is a full-time position.
- Salary range $55,000 - $70,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- 6% retirement annuity
- 12 sick days and 9 holidays per year
- Vacation ? 2 weeks 1st and 2nd year, 3 weeks 3rd year, 4 weeks 4th year and beyond.
