Saturday, September 12: WILMINGTON DRAMA LEAGUE presents “THE PRODUCERS”. Based on the Academy Award-winning 1968 film, “The Producers” is the story of a down-on-his-luck theatrical producer Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, a mousy accountant. Together, they hatch the ultimate scam: Raise more money than you need for a sure-fire Broadway flop…and pocket the difference. “The Producers” has turned the tradition of a Broadway musical on its head and earned more Tony Awards than any other show in Broadway history. Co-written by superstar comedian Mel Brooks, this big-time Broadway musical is truly one of the funniest shows around. Contains some adult language. 7:30 p.m. sensory seminar. $11 tickets. Dinner before the show at the Golden Dove Restaurant.
Sunday, September 20: CANDLELIGHT DINNER THEATRE presents “THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE”, a high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston. It’s the zany new 1920’s musical that has taken Broadway by storm! Taking place in New York City in 1922, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” tells the story of a young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It’s a New York full of intrigue and jazz—a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever. Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” is a perfectly constructed afternoon of madcap merriment. Doors open at 1 p.m. for 3 p.m. matinee. $49 due August 14.
Saturday, September 26: Rescheduled trip to FORT MILES, located in CAPE HENLOPEN STATE PARK, 1-2:30 p.m. Explore Fort Miles and learn the role of the Coastal Defense system during World War II. Tour is led by a historical interpreter in authentic period uniform and will include gun battery above the ocean, the old barracks, and the observation tower. Guide will discuss the history of the site and the plans to restore Battery 519 and its barracks. $6 per person. Pack a picnic lunch to eat prior to the tour at the Fishing Pier Pavilion along the bay. Dinner at Grotto’s Pizza in Rehoboth, with some time to walk on the boardwalk after dinner.

Saturday, October 17: NATIONAL MUSEUM OF CRIME AND PUNISHMENT in Washington, D.C. Explore the technology and science behind solving crimes, discover the heroes of law enforcement, and venture into the dark side of the criminal mind. Described by “Good Morning America” as a “must- see for all CSI fans”, the National Museum of Crime and Punishment includes a crime scene lab and the filming studios for “America’s Most Wanted” with host John Walsh. A simulated FBI shooting range, virtual high-speed police chase, John Dillinger’s getaway car, and hundreds of interactives and artifacts pertaining to America’s favorite subject fill the three floor, 25,000 square foot museum. 12:30 guided tour. $20 due September 15. Bring lunch to eat in the van. Dinner on the way home at the Fisherman’s Inn. Menus in Braille and large print.
Saturday, October 24: Experience the mysteries of the MASONIC TEMPLE in Philadelphia. This architectural jewel, dedicated in 1873, is unrivaled with its seven elegant meeting halls. Walk through the splendid corridors and majestic lodge halls and be awed by their grandeur. An impressive collection of oil paintings, statuary, stained glass, murals, and exquisite furnishings enhances the richness of the interior. 12:30 p.m. guided tour, $7.50 per person. Bring lunch to eat in the van. Dinner on the way home at the Lonestar Restaurant in Wilmington.
Sunday, November 1: (NCC) MCCARTER THEATRE AT PRINCETON UNIVERSITY presents “She Stoops to Conquer”, by Oliver Goldsmith. This boisterous comedy of mistaken identities has delighted audiences for over two centuries with its gorgeous language, elegant costumes, and outright hilarity. Sparks fly when young urbanite Charles Marlow arrives at a country estate to court Kate Hardcastle, only to take her father for an innkeeper and her for a saucy barmaid! Good-natured hijinks and grand pretensions abound in this frothy romp that pits town against country and parent against child.12:30 p.m. sensory seminar. 2 p.m. show is described for the visually impaired. $13 tickets. Bring lunch to eat in the van. Dinner on the way home at the Princetonian Diner.

We will have an introductory program by a ranger, who will also take us down several trails. Make sure to wear good walking shoes, insect repellant, and long pants and sleeves. No charge for tour; $2 transportation charge will be collected. 1 p.m. Bring lunch to eat in the van or outside if it is a nice day. Dinner on the way home at the Georgia House in Milford. Share in Christmas celebrations from around the world. 11:45 a.m. buffet; 1:15 show. $48 due October 10.
A NOTE ON YOUR PICK UP TIMES
Please be aware that the time you are given as your pick up time for a trip is when we expect your driver to arrive to pick you up. You should be ready to go before the time you are given. If your driver is early, he will wait until your stated pick up time. The schedule of pick ups is planned to arrive at the meeting location or at the day’s destination to be on time for the activity. If you are not ready to leave at your stated pick up time, the driver will not be able to wait for you since this will inconvenience the others going on the trip and will make the driver late for meeting the other vans and Judy.
